The Mex-Hex Continues

.5 out of 10 on the Shock Scale.
(espn.com)

Make that 0-23-1 in Mexico for the U.S. squad. Once again, my attention focused on the game on 'mun2' and whether the Americans could pull off a primetime victory, when the many eyes of a nation are fixed upon them in the midst of its recently found soccer lust. Once again, the Americans lost an early lead, capped off with a goal from Miguel Sabah in the 81st minute for the Mexican Green Machine. Granted, it was a game that the Mexicans needed a lot more than the Americans. While the U.S. squad have finished all their tough World Cup qualifier road matches still in 2nd place in the CONCACAF standings, Mexico desperately needed to pull off a victory in a congested leader board that has been ready to spit them out. But at the same time, it seemed as if the public was thinking of a a dominant performance for the Americans against El Tri. Maybe they didn't get the info concerning the less than stellar record the U.S. has obtained in Mexican soil. Maybe the public that get the info that this game was gonna be played at 7,200 feet above sea level. Or maybe the public didn't know that there were going to be over 100,000 crazy Mexican soccer fanatics screaming anything and everything imaginable to prevent the U.S. from achieving their first triumph south of the border. But for a brief moment, it appeared as if a Charlie Davies goal would drop the hex in Mexico. But 10 minutes later, an Israel Castro strike knotted up the game, cranking the crowd volume back to 11. It wasn't a poor performance by any means, and you can even say that the refs made a few "scandalous" calls on the pitch. But it looked as if the Americans were playing a little desperate after the equalizer, evidenced by the 3 yellow cards in the 1st half. And there must be a piece of the Bermuda Triangle in Estadio Azteca, because Landon Donovan just disappeared entirely. As expected as this loss was, I still don't have all the faith in the world in the U.S. squad making a splash in South Africa next year due to their gradual loss of intensity as the game goes on (Still have Brazil on the mind.). Whether it was smog-induced or not, the U.S. still leaves a lot to be desired in terms of closing out important games. Then and only then will I drink ESPN's Kool-Aid and pick the U.S. as one of the best international squads in the world. Now where can I find where to watch the Barcelona-Athletic Club Super Cup match on Sunday?

Mochaman's Fantasy Report: Moss at WR and Youk on D - Fense!!!!!

(patriots.com)

After mulling it over for weeks, I have decided to create a second fantasy football team. The Boston Beersquad will try to jack up teams in the "Plax's Got a Gun" league this fall/winter. Never had too much success in fantasy football. So like the Killa Beavaz, this Beersquad is just another crap shoot. 3 weeks till draft day, so stay tuned!
